Internship Flood Risk Vietnam

Become part of Royal HaskoningDHV’s projectteam working on their technical assistance
program supporting an integrated approach to disaster resilient planning and investment
in the Khan Pao province in Vietnam. The overarching aim of the study is to enhance the
integration of disaster risk perspective into Khanh Hoa provincial socio-economic
development plans and investments, through the following objectives:

  • Highlighting lessons learned and experiences from the losses recorded in the mentioned
    Typhoon Damrey and other similar typhoons
  • Review and screening of existing plans and investment proposals of Khanh Hoa
    province to identify the gaps from a disaster risk management and climate change
    perspective;
  • Develop/update the provincial integrated disaster risk management plan and cross-cutting recommendations for enhancing disaster resilience of the existing provincial socio-economic development plan and relevant sectoral plans;
  • Identification of priorities and low-regret disaster-resilient investments, including early warning systems, Information – Education-Communication program, and integration of “build-back-better” approach, for the reconstruction of the key infrastructures damagedby Typhoon Damrey, as based on the Bank’s recent 2017 Vietnam Post-Typhoon Damrey Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment report;
  • Preliminarily formulation of a lending operation to support resilient development in Khanh Hoa province; and
  • Consolidation and dissemination of methodologies and knowledge products on resilient development tailored to the context of disaster-vulnerable provinces in Vietnam.
