About

'Het Waterbouwdispuut´ is the study association for students of the track Hydraulic Engineering of the Civil Engineering MSc programme at Delft University of Technology. Hydraulic Engineering is one of the oldest degrees in Delft, as it is very important for our nation's existence. Today, our Hydraulic Engineers are well-known all over the world. Notable graduates are prof. ir. Stive, prof. Ir. Jonkman and ir. Laboyrie.

The study association ´Het Waterbouwdispuut´ is a platform developed by and for Hydraulic Engineering students with the goal to bring companies, students, and the university closer together. ´Het Waterbouwdispuut´ was founded in 1981 by Ir. Bezuyen, Ir. Laboyrie, and Ir. Terwigsma, starting as a spokesperson for the student body and eventually developing into what it is today.

These days the focus is on creating an environment in which companies and students are able to interact in both a casual and professional manner. We offer our members a wide range of activities throughout the academic year. We bring students in contact with our partners through excursions, lunch lectures, recruitment dinners ('Hydraulic Dinners') and company cases and provide a more casual environment for them to interact with the staff of the Hydraulic Engineering department through coffee breaks ('Hydraulic Coffee') and Master Communities. Furthermore, ‘Het Waterbouwdispuut´ has the responsibility to improve and maintain the quality of the education, which we do by thoroughly evaluating our courses and informing our students about all possibilities within the Hydraulic Engineering master track. And last, but not least, we aim to inform and enthusiast students at the end of their bachelor's programme for the Hydraulic Engineering master track.
